Reeman's debut novel, A Prayer for the Ship was published in The Bolitho books have sold over 23 million copies worldwide, and more are slated to be printed due to the overwhelming demand for books about these characters.

And there is a curious jarring discordant note with a barely developed subplot that ends abruptly with a severed head in the heat of battle that just doesn't sit right. It seems like Reeman was taking a cue from his own life for at least some of the story ideas.
His writing gives a sense of immediacy and realism. I recommend this book to lovers of naval fiction.
