And while as a fan I enjoyed seeing that Sly Stone was included as one of the principals in the book, his section drifted from its named subject more so than any other, which was disappointing. For me it would be better to read a biography of Elvis than this critique.
But Marcus has read even the novels about Elvis, of which there seems to be a substantial number. No trivia or quizzes yet. Mystery Train is packed with facts and details that mstery an obsessed person can have.
Nearly as much discographic information as storytelling and commentary, Mystery Train is a book by and for obsessive music listeners and record collectors.
